Workforce Development Month
Oklahoma Works Celebrates Workforce Development Month
Each September, states across the country join efforts to celebrate National Workforce Development Month. This year we’re going virtual as we highlight successful efforts to support job seekers and employers in building a strong talent pipeline. In the coming weeks, we’ll be hosting a number of hiring events, trainings, and informational sessions, as well as recognizing the successes of Oklahoma Works alumni.
When August began, roughly 123,000 Oklahomans were receiving unemployment benefits and many were forced to permanently leave the job market due to economic or family circumstances. More than ever, the services and resources available through our Oklahoma Works American Job Centers are vital to a strong economic recovery. This includes access to effective workforce education and training programs that support workers in obtaining living wage jobs.
Throughout September, join us in celebrating successful workforce development activities and the professionals who make them happen. Tune in to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts all month long to learn more about our state’s workforce services and resources.
