Success Story: Shelby Brown

Shelby Brown-Tulsa

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services referred Shelby Brown to Workforce Tulsa. While Shelby had extensive work history in customer service and the restaurant industry, she was having trouble finding an administrative position.

Upon approval of her enrollment into the Youth Program, Shelby attended Dynamic Futures; a series of work readiness workshops designed to equip program participants with the transferable skills necessary to ensure continued occupational success regardless of the participant’s ultimate career goals.

Shelby learned how to tailor her resume to specific industries, do well in mock interviews, and interact with potential co-workers. Soon she was offered a full-time position as an Administrative Assistant at Baer & Timberlake, P.C., a law firm in Tulsa. Shelby says she is finally on the path to a career she truly enjoys.
