We have many businesses from the local Duncan community partnering with us for this amazing opportunity for students! The students are allowed to be in the working environment of a veterinary office, a dentist's office, an optometrist's office, a paint and body garage, the county courthouse, a realty office and many more. This program will benefit the students by allowing participants to explore a career pathway and as a result make better informed decisions for the future!

This event is a challenging hands-on contest for 7th-12th grade students in schools within the Red River Technology Center district. Students will build and race approximately 300 CO2 cars at this year's event. Local manufacturers partner to work the CO2 car race, judge the CO2 cars and student drawings made from balsa wood, and provide the monetary awards that are given to the winners. High school and CareerTech students are invited to attend a tour of the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA), Oklahoma's state-owned electric utility. GRDA operates three hydroelectric facilities and manages two lakes along the Grand River system. These facilities, along with coal and gas generators at the Grand River Energy Center (GREC), Red Bud facility (gas) and wind generation from several different Oklahoma wind farms combine to give GRDA a total electric generation capacity of close to 1,900 megawatt. GRDA transmits and delivers this electricity across its 24-county service area in Northeast Oklahoma via a sophisticated energy delivery system. The students will begin the experience with a Career Session that will concentrate on the importance of a Pathway of study then on to the event. This will not be your typical career event but will be connected with industry, high school options and post-secondary options through the Career Clusters. An example would be the Health Careers; the students will see industry and then go immediately to the high school program options, then on to the post-secondary options (including 2 year, 4 year and military options for education). The students will return to school with a Course Planner outlining what is required in high school and what their options are for selecting Career Programs of study for their high school careers leading to post-secondary options.D.J.
