Success Story: American Castings

American Castings-Northeast

The Northeast Workforce Development Board (NEWDB) partnered with American Castings, located at MidAmerica Industrial Park in Pryor to hold an externship for staff from Cherokee Nation Career Services and the Northeast Workforce Development Board Service Provider (Odle Management Group, Inc.). The opportunity allowed these workforce professionals to learn about employment opportunities within American Castings.

Those attending had the opportunity to see each department at work within the company and actually be engaged in the daily operations of the manufacturing plant. The attendees went on a tour of the plant, observed employees at work, and also spoke to supervisors from each department about hiring challenges.

The NEWDB is partnering with other businesses to provide similar opportunities for workforce professionals to create a first-hand experience at what a “day-in-the-life-of” various career fields looks like. These workforce professionals play a significant role in helping navigate job seekers in careers through career exploration. Spending a day with an employer, walking through each department, presents great insights into the careers that are needed in northeast Oklahoma.
